For residents of Vienna in employment or seeking employment: basic funding for continued or further education.

For employees with no higher than an apprenticeship or medium-level vocational schooling in terms of their level of education or for employees aged 40 and above – up to € 1,100 available. To finish schooling or complete high school education - up to € 2,000 available.

Individual consultation and funding for women wanting to change career – a maximum sum of € 3,700 is available or 90 % of the course fees

NOVA Karenz
Support for men and women re-thinking or re-planning their professional development as a result of child care obligations. Financial support is also available for further education courses (up to € 2,700!).

AK-Bildungsgutschein education voucher
Members of the Vienna Employment Chamber can request an employment voucher worth over 100 euros from the Vienna Employment Chamber and parents on maternity/paternity leave can obtain a voucher worth over 150 euros.

Course reimbursement by trade union
If you have been a member of the Union for Salaried Employees for 6 months when you start a course, you can obtain fees reimbursements for vocational courses.

Educational leave
Employees can leave their jobs for 3 to 12 months maximum, with their employer’s agreement, and still retain their employment status. They are entitled to further education benefit during this period of educational leave. (Source: AK Wien)

Tax deductibility on the cost of further and continued education
Tax may be deducted on the costs of continued or further education programmes which tie in with an individual’s job or career. Deductions are valid on school education (commercial academies, schools of higher technical education, vocational schools for service industries management, colleges of higher education), course costs, materials and specialist literature.
